What's New in Propel Rx 1.9

Key Enhancements and Fixes

  • You can now filter a .net report using up to three separate criteria. The Sort option has also been restored to the Waiting For Pick Up/Delivery and Gross Profit by Prescription reports.

  • The auto-generated Mixture Breakdown Report should respect the printer settings in More (...) > Pharmacy > System.

  • The patient list in the Group Folder Patients tab now prints in ascending alphabetical order by last name.

  • The Help button has been repositioned as its own navigator button on the left menu.

  • A "Note cannot be blank" error should no longer appear when a prescription is Rebilled or Amended.

  • It is now possible to link an existing prescription image to other prescriptions for the same patient. For more information, see Linking a Prescription Image to Multiple Prescriptions.

  • A new Print Hold Label preference has been added. Users can now choose from the following options for the new Print Hold Label preference:

    • Yes - labels print when a prescription is placed on Hold. This is the default setting.

    • No - no labels print for prescriptions placed on Hold.

    • Prompt - a prompt appears when a prescription is placed on Hold, allowing users to decide whether or not to print the label on demand.

  • Drugs with the same generic name should only be counted once when Propel Rx determines patient eligibility for an Ontario MedsCheck.

Enhancements

The following fields have been added to the e-File copy and Electronic Hardcopy report:

  • Pkgr - description of the packager assigned to the prescription. Both retail and non-retail packagers can display in this field. If the prescription is set to No Auto-Dispensing, this field is blank.

  • Grp - ID and short name of the group that the patient was enrolled in at the time the prescription was processed. If the patient was not part of a group, this field is blank.

  • Card Type - description of the card type that was used for packaging the prescription. If no Card Type was assigned (i.e., retail packager), this field is blank.

It is now possible to link an existing prescription image to other prescriptions for the same patient. For more information, see Linking a Prescription Image to Multiple Prescriptions.

The Help button that was previously found in the More (...) menu has been repositioned as its own navigator button on the left menu (hot key = F12). Selecting the Help button will open the Propel Rx Online Help website.

A Notifications flag has been added to the Main tabs of the Drug Folder and Mixture Folder. This flag dictates if the drug or mixture is eligible for Pickup Reminders or Refill Reminders.

  • Checkbox selected (ON) - prescriptions for the drug or mixture are eligible for Pickup Reminders or Refill Reminders. Whether a reminder is sent will depend on the patient's enrollment status in a program (e.g., text message, Amjay Software Solutions, etc.) and the Notifications preferences in More (...) > Pharmacy > Adherence.

  • Checkbox deselected (OFF) - prescriptions for the drug or mixture are not eligible for Pickup Reminders or Refill Reminders.

Upon upgrade to Propel Rx 1.9, an initial load will be applied to set the Notifications checkbox for all drugs. The checkbox will remain editable for users to manually update it if required. Any manual changes made to the checkbox will not be overridden by updates.

A new dropdown has been added to the Patient Folder Programs tab. It reads, "Do we have consent to transmit your retail rxs to an off-site packager?"

  • If your pharmacy has at least one active off-site retail packager in Propel Rx, this dropdown is enabled. The options include Not Asked, Accepted, and Declined. Pharmacies can voluntarily choose whether to use this as a tool to track consent for off-site retail packaging.

    This dropdown is used for tracking purposes only at the moment. Your pharmacy is responsible for gathering consent prior to sending a patient's prescriptions to an off-site retail packager, if your pharmacy does not own the facility that hosts the packager. The method to document consent is at your pharmacy's discretion.

  • If your pharmacy does not have an active off-site retail packager, this dropdown will be disabled or not display.

A new Print Hold Label preference has been added to More(...) > Pharmacy > Rx Detail.

Users can now choose from the following options for the new Print Hold Label preference:

  • Yes - labels print when a prescription is placed on Hold. This is the default setting.

  • No - no labels print for prescriptions placed on Hold.

  • Prompt - a prompt appears when a prescription is placed on Hold, allowing users to decide whether or not to print the label on demand.

Changes to the Print Hold Label preference take effect immediately upon Save and will apply to Half, Daily Laser, and Thermal labels.

Regardless of the setting chosen for the Print Hold Label preference, users still have the option to print Hold prescription labels manually through the Rx > Print menu.

Pharmacies with or without Propel POS integration now have the ability to scan individual prescription barcodes on the Patient Official Receipt report at the till.

Users can:

  • Choose which prescriptions they want to sell at the till by scanning the applicable barcodes on the report. The price of each scanned prescription will auto-populate at the till.

  • Enable or disable the printing of the prescription barcodes on the report and default their selection.

The barcodes on the Patient Official Receipt report are intended for scanning at the POS till. They are not used for batch scanning. Batch scanning can continue to be done using the Drug Record Book report.

Barcode printing on the report will be controlled by the Print POS Barcodes preference.

  • Checkbox selected (ON) - one barcode is generated per prescription.

  • Checkbox deselected (OFF) - no barcodes are printed on the report. This is the default setting.

    If you want this preference to be ON by default, select the Print POS Barcodes checkbox and then Set Defaults to change the default setting for future generations of this report.

To facilitate report generation for batched prescriptions, a Batch ID field has been added as a criterion for the report.

The Batch ID can be retrieved from the Batch Manager > Batch History tab.

To more clearly distinguish Refill Reminders activities from Refill Reminders that are sent through programs such as IVR, the following preferences in Propel Rx have been renamed:

  • In More (...) > Pharmacy > Rx Detail, the Refill Reminder Days preference has been renamed to Refill Reminder Activity (days).

  • In the Patient Folder Programs tab, the Refill Reminder (days) preference has been renamed to Refill Reminder Activity (days) and moved outside of the Notifications section.

  • In Rx Detail, the Refill Rem Days preference has been renamed to Refill Rem Act (days).

The functionality of these preferences remains the same. These settings decide if and when Refill Reminder activities are scheduled for a patient's prescriptions. An hierarchy is used to determine how these settings are inherited and overridden.

  1. Pharmacy - the Refill Reminder Days preference in Rx Detail Preferences applies to all prescriptions.

  2. Patient - the Refill Reminder Days preference in the Patient Folder applies to that patient's prescriptions only. This will override the pharmacy level setting.

  3. Prescription - the Refill Rem Act (days) preference in Rx Detail overrides both the patient and pharmacy level settings, acting as the final determining factor for when the Refill Reminder activity is scheduled.

Text message integration has been introduced in Propel Rx. This is a service that patients can enroll in to receive Pickup Reminders and Refill Reminders for their prescriptions via text message. Please note, this is a subscription based service.

Patients can only be enrolled in one type of Pickup Reminder and Refill Reminder program. For example, a patient cannot have Pickup Reminders via Amjay Software Solutions and Refill Reminders via text message. Both Pickup Reminders and Refill Reminders must be handled by the same program.

TP reports, accessed from More (...) > Reports > TP Reports, have been reformatted to fit fewer pages. A single page will no longer be dedicated to a single Third Party and instead fit as many Third Parties as possible.

Fixes

  • When the patient list in the Group Folder Patients tab is printed, the patients should now be sorted in ascending alphabetical order according to their last name. The printout will follow this order regardless of how the patient list is sorted in Propel Rx.

  • We corrected an issue where the SIG was occasionally truncated by the drug name on the vial label.

  • The Print Methadone Supp. Label preference now functions as intended, ensuring that if set to "No," no supplementary labels print. If set to "Yes," supplementary labels print for prescriptions filled using methadone 10mg/mL DINs, excluding methadone mixture prescriptions.

  • When the Labels field in Rx Detail is set to 0, no vial labels should print upon Fill or Queue.

  • Alias and Maiden Name fields have been added to the Patient Folder Additional sub-tab. The addition of these fields addresses an error that was previously occurring when a Patient Compare was performed in Alberta.

  • Drugs with the same generic name should only be counted once when Propel Rx determines patient eligibility for an Ontario MedsCheck.

  • We enhanced the performance when selecting or entering a SIG in Rx Detail.

    • If the Display SIG Dropdown List is ON, SIGs can be selected more quickly from the dropdown list.

    • If the Display SIG Dropdown List is OFF, suggested SIGs should no longer display.

  • We corrected a display issue where the Refill Due Date on the Patient Profile did not align with the actual Workbench date for narcotic Auto Refill prescriptions.

  • The Last Rx Qty on the Prescription Transfer report should reflect the last prescription that was completed in the chain. If the last prescription was cancelled, it should no longer be considered when retrieving the Last Rx Qty value.

  • In Alberta, when a Manual Reversal is performed on a prescription, a record should be written to the Netcare batch file so the cancellation can be transmitted to NetCare. This only applies to Alberta pharmacies without Real Time Integration (RTI).

  • A "Note cannot be blank" error should no longer appear when a prescription is Rebilled or Amended.

  • Propel Rx Reports that open in the new .net framework can now be filtered using up to 3 separate criteria. Previously, only 1 filter could be applied to these reports.

  • The Sort option has been restored for the Gross Profit by Prescription and Waiting For Pick Up/Delivery reports.

  • The auto-printed Mixture Breakdown Report should respect the printer settings in More (...) > Pharmacy > System.

  • When the TAR report is previewed or printed, only a single patient should occupy each page.

Sunsetted

  • The prompt asking whether labels should be printed for prescriptions flagged as Compliance Pack should no longer appear when the Labels field in Rx Detail is set to 0.

  • The network information (i.e., response messages) returned by Third Parties during claims adjudication has been removed from the e-File copy. This change was made to improve the formatting of the e-File copy and condense it to fewer pages. Network information is also not required for audit purposes.

  • The Pickup Reminders section in the Quick Patient window is no longer available. Preferences for Pickup Reminders can be set from the Patient Folder Programs tab.
